Match Report
Bede's School Girls-U15A vs  SISNA
On: Tuesday, 08 Feb 2022
Venue: Away

We have been preparing for the SISNA Tournament all season so were excited to finally travel to Hurst College to compete against other schools. There were 13 schools in the U15 age group and we were split into two pools. Pool B was a tough group but we sized up the opposition and were ready for the challenges ahead!

A rocky start against Roedean saw some first match nerves and we didn't play our best game. Having mentally regrouped, our match against Christ's Hospital was a much better team effort, officially drawing the game. (the scoring discrepancy was disappointing as we were sure we had won this match, but we gracefully accepted the draw). We were ready for Eastbourne College and went out with focus and determination to grab that win by two goals. We knew our next game would be tough and eventual tournament winners Hurst showed their quality, beating us convincingly. Worth School were next and we very nearly let this one slip away in the second half as our energy levels seemed to dip a little, but we held on for the win. Our last pool match against Seaford was very evenly matched with some end to end netball. A draw was a fair result for both teams.

We finished 4th in our Pool, which was a fantastic result and we had a play off match against fourth place in Pool A, Mayfield. This was the final game of the day and there were some very weary legs taking to court. Mentally, the team focused and it became apparent that although the schools were evenly matched, Bedes had the skills to win this. We made some tactical and position changes at half time and absolutely smashed out the second half to win. Overall 7th place for our U15s! An excellent result.

Players:

Liv and Lola in the defensive circle were tenacious, supportive and never gave up. Centre court Freda, Milly and Iris were relentless, with some amazing down court play and feeds into that circle. Shooting trio of Jodie, Matty and Lily worked so hard to get the ball close to the post and accuracy was above average. Special mention for the last match goes to Milly, Freda and Jodie. Your down court defensive pressure enabled at least two turnovers which were converted into goals.

Coach's player of the tournament: Jodie, who was asked to play shooter, circle defence and mid court. In every position she was asked to play, Jodie was a game changer.

Very proud of you all, girls! Well done.
